Morehouse Selects Heidrick & Struggles International for Presidential Search

ATLANTA, GA, April 25, 2012 -- The Morehouse College Board of Trustees has selected Heidrick & Struggles International, Inc., headquartered in New York, to assist in the search for a new president to replace out-going President Robert M. Franklin ’75.

Heidrick & Struggles has more than 55 years of experience in executive search and leadership consulting services. The firm has worked with search committees to identify outstanding leaders for a variety of major private and public colleges and universities, as well as other education-related institutions.

The search will be handled out of the New York and Atlanta offices. Nat Sutton, vice chairman of Heidrick & Struggles in the New York office, works with high-profile educational institutions and corporate and nonprofit organizations to build successful, forward-looking leadership and senior-management teams. Some of his education clients include New York State Department of Education, Houston Independent School System, New England Conservatory of Music, University of Iowa, University of Cincinnati and Temple University.

Ellen E. Brown, principal in the Atlanta office, specializes in senior-level searches within the higher education and nonprofit area, as well as in the legal functional area. Her higher education clients include University of New Hampshire, Howard University, Hanover College, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Butler University and University of Illinois at Chicago.

Following the announcement of President Franklin’s transition plans on January 30, a Presidential Search Committee was established by the Morehouse College Board of Trustees to lead the search effort. The 13-member committee is comprised of a diverse cross-section of representatives from the Board of Trustees, including students, alumni and faculty.
