Leonard Sledge ’94 has been named as the new executive director of the Henry County Development Authority. He was voted unanimously to the post on Nov. 2.
Sledge was selected for the position after rising to the top of the candidate pool in a national search that attracted nearly 80 candidates, officials said.
He will succeed Charlie Moseley, who resigned from the position in May to accept a job with the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.
Sledge is currently the director of the Economic Development Department in Hampton, Va., where he has served for more than four years. He is also the former director of the Office of Economic Development at the College of William & Mary.
Working as the new executive director of the Henry County Development Authority will allow Sledge to return to Georgia with his family, he said.
Sledge has a Bachelor of General Science degree from Morehouse, a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering Degree from Georgia Tech, and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
