After Defeating Lane Saturday, Morehouse Football Now Goes to Central StateDate Released: September 15, 2017
After a record-breaking defensive effort in their win over Lane last Saturday, the Morehouse Maroon Tigers football team now heads to Ohio to take on Central State on Sept. 16.
The Maroon Tigers (1-1) limited Lane to minus-23 yards rushing in defeating them 24-10 last weekend at B.T. Harvey Stadium. That’s the fewest amount of rushing yardage that a Morehouse defense has ever allowed an opponent.
David Smith led the Maroon Tigers defense with ten tackles, two for losses. Bundrea Conway and Kenneth Hagins each had eight tackles, while Hagins also had a sack.
Offensively, quarterbacks Kievon Taylor and Michael Sims combined to throw for 280 yards, with Sims throwing a touchdown and running for another.
This week, they visit a Central State team that is 0-2 and lost 55-14 to Clark Atlanta last weekend. Saturday’s game will be the first time Morehouse has faced Central State since 2014 when they defeated the Marauders 43-9. The only other time the two schools have played each other is when Morehouse defeated Central State 20-12 in 2013.
