The Morehouse Years
(January 27, 2010)
Dr. Samuel Dubois Cook, '48 and Dr. Charles Vert Willie, '48 recalled their days as students on the campus of Morehouse College with fellow classmate, Martin Luther King, Jr. during the College's 2010 King Celebration discussion, "Remembering King: The Morehouse Years." Moderated by Dr. Marcellus Barksdale,'65, director of the African American Studies program, and Dr. Vicki Crawford, co-director of the Morehouse College Martin Luther King, Jr. Collection, nearly 200 students, faculty and staff listened to first-hand accounts documenting the early years when young King, affectionately known as "M.L." first entered Morehouse as a fifteen-year-old and later graduated with a degree in Sociology.
