‌Morehouse College 131st Commencement Exercises
Sunday, May 17, 2015
Century Campus

Please note:

The Georgia Department of Transportation has scheduled construction on I-20 east bound and I-20 west bound this weekend, which will likely have an adverse affect on traffic headed to Morehouse College for Baccalaureate and Commencement on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17.

Construction will begin at 9 p.m. on Friday, May 15 and will continue non-stop until 5 a.m. Monday, May 18.

The number of available traveling lanes will be reduced on I-20 in both directions near the exits that service the Morehouse College campus.

Please pack your patience, leave extra early and allow for plenty of time as traffic will be delayed.

Hundreds of men of Morehouse will complete their course of study and become Morehouse Men on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at 8 a.m. during the 131st Commencement exercises on Century Campus at Morehouse College.

The speaker for Commencement is former Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick.

Baccalaureate is the final spiritual gathering for the senior class and will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 3 p.m. in the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel.

Baccalaureate is a packed service, so those wishing to attend are encouraged to arrive early.  Commencement is an outdoor ceremony and will take place on the Century Campus, rain or shine.  Attendees are encouraged to check the forecast and dress appropriately for the weather.

Both Baccalaureate and Commencement will be streamed live via the web at www.morehouse.edu/commencement/webcast.html.

Remember the Resilience of Forebears, Deval Patrick Tells the Morehouse Class of 2015

By ADD SEYMOUR JR. — No matter what is thrown their way, the Morehouse College class of 2015 must harken back to their ancestors who showed resilience in making their way, former Massachusetts’s governor Deval Patrick told graduating seniors Sunday.

“It’s about being as mindful and as determined as your forebears to keep on marching,” he said. “You will get beat down… but you have personal responsibility, for both our forebears and to future generations to get back up and keep on marching.  Learn to let a setback be just a setback, not a defeat.”
