Dr. Shafer's current research investigates how party stereotypes and gender stereotypes interact when citizens are asked to evaluate candidates on a variety of measures.  Her main areas of teaching and research include:  American government, public opinion, campaigns/elections, political behavior, gender, and research methodology.
