José Mallabo

Vice President of Strategic Marketing, Communications, and Admissions and Chief Marketing/Revenue Officer

José Mallabo is a seasoned multi-channel marketing and communications professional with 30 years of U.S. and international experience, currently serving as the chief marketing and revenue officer and vice president of marketing, communications, and admissions at Morehouse College in Atlanta. He has proven success in driving awareness, corporate reputation, and demand generation for Fortune 200 companies, early-stage companies, and in higher education, including work with organizations such as Hewlett Packard, FedEx, Xerox, Kodak, eBay, LinkedIn, Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), and GSI Commerce.

At eBay Inc., Mallabo led corporate and financial communications globally and rebranded the company’s online classifieds properties around the world into eBay Classifieds Group. He led international corporate communications at LinkedIn, where he launched operations in Mumbai, Sydney, Toronto, and Amsterdam and built a marketing and public relations structure to serve local markets while integrating into the U.S. team. He has also held senior-level positions with agencies such as Ketchum Public Relations and Text 100 Public Relations.

Mallabo entered higher education as senior vice president of marketing and public relations at SCAD, where he reorganized several functional areas into one global team operating on four campuses with a focus on three priorities: recruitment, reputation, and rankings. During his time at SCAD, demand generation grew by 140% and the institution expanded its reach into new markets in the U.S. and internationally through initiatives such as SCADpad.

After leaving SCAD, Mallabo co-founded an education technology company focused on streamlining enrollment processes for students and colleges and served as a startup catalyst for Advanced Technology Development Center of the Georgia Institute of Technology (ATDC) in Savannah where he coached other founders in best practices related to organizing, launching, and scaling their businesses.

Mallabo earned a Master of Science in mass communications from San Diego State University and a Bachelor of Arts in communications from La Salle University.
