President Obama to Travel to Atlanta, GA


WASHINGTON, DC – On Sunday, May 19, President Obama will travel to Atlanta, GA to deliver the commencement speech at Morehouse College. The President’s remarks and the arrival and departure of Air Force One in Atlanta are open to pre-credentialed media, but closed to the public.


Members of the media who wish to cover the arrival and departure of Air Force One must RSVP HERE by 5:00 PM EDT Friday, May 17, 2013.


Members of the media who wish to cover the President’s remarks at Morehouse College must RSVP HERE by 5:00 P.M. Friday, May 17, 2013.

NOTE:  Members of the media who wish to cover both the arrival and departure of Air Force One and the President's remarks at Morehouse College should plan on credentialing two separate crews.

Estimated Air Force One arrival time:  9:50 a.m.


Estimated Air Force One departure time:  3:10 p.m.


Coverage:  Open to pre-credentialed media 


Media entrance:  Main entrance of North Cargo Building, below the Allied Aviation sign.


Media pre-set:  6:00 a.m. - 7:00 a.m.


No access to equipment:  7:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.


Media access:  8:30 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.


Final media access for arrival:  8:45 a.m.  Late arrivals may not be accommodated.


NOTE:  Media can leave the North Cargo Building between the arrival and departure of Air Force One; however, all equipment needed to cover departure must remain in place. Media who wish to re-access the site to cover departure must return to the North Cargo Building no later than 2:00 p.m.


Live truck parking:  Directed on-site; meet at Gate 23 next to the North Cargo Building to be escorted onto the tarmac. All live trucks must arrive by 6:00 a.m. to be escorted onto the tarmac and cable to the riser. 


General media parking:  Parking is available in the parking lot between Fire Station 24 and the North Cargo Building.


Throw:  150 feet


Cable run:  200 feet 


Wireless internet is not available. Power and workspace are not available.


NOTE:  The arrival of Air Force One is closed to the public. 


All names submitted for credentials must be accurate and reflect the identification presented by media at check points for entrance. RSVPs do not guarantee access. You will receive a confirmation e-mail if you will receive a credential to cover the event.

Estimated time of remarks:  11:30 AM


Media entrance and check-in: Media check-in will be located at the campus entry gate on Atlanta Student Movement Boulevard (Fair Street), near Clark Atlanta University. Once you have entered the designated media area, re-entry will not be allowed. 


Live truck pre-set:  SATURDAY, May 18, 2013 8:00PM-9:00PM. All media outlets planning to send a live truck to cover the President's remarks will need to park all trucks and run all cables during this pre-set time.


Live truck parking: Satellite trucks will be directed to park on Atlanta Student Movement Boulevard (Fair Street) between Lowery Boulevard and SNCC Way. Live trucks will enter Atlanta Student Movement Boulevard from Lowery Boulevard. There will be no media access to Atlanta Student Movement Boulevard from Northside Drive or from any other adjacent streets.


Media access:  6:00 AM- 9:00 AM


Final media access:  9:00 AM ( Please Note:  Late arrivals may not be accommodated.) 


General media parking:  Media parking will be available on Atlanta Student Movement Boulevard (Fair Street). Media vehicles will enter Atlanta Student Movement Boulevard from Lowery Boulevard. There will be no media access to Atlanta Student Movement Boulevard from Northside Drive or from any other adjacent streets.


Parking is limited and will be available on a first-come, first served basis. Please be prepared to show your media credential in order to gain clearance.


Throw: 95 feet


Cable run: 400 feet


Limited power and workspace will be available. Water stations and restrooms will be located in the press area.
