Steven Scott ’79 named interim CEO of Upstate Medical UniversityDate Released: January 19, 2017
ATLANTA – Morehouse alumnus Steven Scott ‘79 was named the interim CEO of SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, N.Y.
He will take over for Dr. John McCabe, who plans to step down as CEO on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
Scott has worked in academic medicine for more than 30 years. Most recently, he served as vice-president and CEO for the Augusta University Medical Center, Upstate.
“I am pleased to have Steven Scott’s leadership during this transition as Upstate Medical University seeks greater integration of our educational, research and clinical missions to strengthen our future,” Dr. Danielle Laraque-Arena said in a press release. “His success and experience in academic medicine will serve the university, our patients and students well.”
Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Morehouse along with a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
