Morehouse Rises in National Rankings as They Host Claflin Saturday in First Place Battle

Date Released: January 19, 2018

Fresh off the latest NABC/D2SIDA national rankings, the Morehouse College basketball team is on the court Saturday for one of their biggest games of the season when they host Claflin College at 3 p.m. in Franklin Forbes Arena.

The Maroon Tigers (15-0, 10-0) Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) are ranked 14th in this NABC poll, after being ranked 20th last week and 25th the week before. In the D2SIDA poll, Morehouse moved up to 15th after being ranked 18th last week.

The Maroon Tigers are one of only two teams in Division II men’s basketball that are still undefeated. The other is top-ranked West Liberty.

The Maroon Tigers will put that undefeated record on the line Saturday afternoon when they host Claflin. Morehouse is in a three-way tie for first place in the SIAC East Division with Claflin and Clark Atlanta as all three teams have 10-0 conference records.

Admission to Saturday’s game is free.
