In the summer of 1989, the same year George H. W. Bush appointed Morehouse alumnus Dr. Louis Sullivan ’54 U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Dr. Sullivan and his wife, Ginger, started a five-kilometer race on Martha’s Vineyard. Now known as the Sullivan 5K Run/Walk, the race that has raised approximately $300,000 to benefit Martha’s Vineyard Hospital over the years will celebrate its 25th year this Saturday, starting at 9 am.
