Q. What methods of payment are accepted for online registration?
All payments for Parents Weekend are made by using a credit card on the online registration form. MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express are accepted. There will be a 2.5% credit card processing fee on all transactions.

Q. Does everyone attending have to pay registration?
Yes, any person over the age of 18 y.o. attending has to pay a registration fee. This includes Parent Council and Parent Association members, and/or parents who volunteer to assist in any events and activities.

Q. What does my registration fee go to?
The fee provides a wide variety of academic and special events open to all registrants throughout the weekend.

Q. Do I have to sign up and pay the $75 fee if I only want to attend one event/activity?
Yes. Unfortunately attending any of the scheduled events require advanced registration. There will be a registration list on site for each event so that we may plan for your attendance. The fee helps cover costs associated with hosting these and all weekend related events. We encourage you to sign up for as many events/activities as possible that are included as part of your registration.

Q. I will arrive in Atlanta late Friday evening. Can my student pick up my registration materials?
Yes, your student may pick up your Parents Weekend registration materials at the registration site located in Thomas J. Kilgore Campus Center - 1st floor anytime Friday April 13th 2018 between 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.  Please send an email to inform us at mhparentsweekd@morehouse.edu that your student will be picking up your materials. Students must show their MH ID to pick up your registration materials.

Q. Do I need to include my Morehouse student in my registration?
Your Morehouse student is able to attend all campus-sponsored events for free (EXCEPT THE PARENTS SOCIAL) - there is no need to register him.

However, if your student wishes to attend either the dinner on Friday and/or the Luncheon on Saturday, include him in the count when you register for which session you wish to attend. He does not need to register to attend any of the scheduled workshop sessions and is welcome to attend with you as long as it does not interfere with him attending class.

When you arrive on campus, you will receive a badge that acts as your credentials. Those with badges can attend all events they signed up for. Seating is limited and badges do not guarantee seats.

**Due to space, only guests with badges will be seated.  Seating is limited and available on a first come, first serve basis.**

Q.  Do I have to present my name tag at all events?
Yes, please have and/or wear your nametag to all scheduled events/activities. Parking for families during Parents Weekend will be free. Parking passes will be emailed to all registered participants by mid-March.  We kindly ask that you to display your parking pass in your car window. ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS/WORKSHOPS

Q.  Where will events/activities be held?
Events will be held at a variety of locations across campus. An updated schedule with event locations will be included in the packet you receive during on-site check in.

Q. Do I need a ticket to attend a workshop?
No, but you do need to register for which workshop you wish to attend (during registration) to help us better plan.  Those who have signed up for a specific workshop will be seated first. Lanyards with ID's are required for entry into each event and activity.

Q. What if my student does not want to attend any of the activities during Family Weekend? Should I still come?
Yes! Parents Weekend is an opportunity for parents to both enjoy and learn more about the institution - and the more you know about the College, the better you will be able to support your son throughout his educational career. Many parents attend Parents Weekend and see their student only occasionally. Other parents have their students with them at everything - it really just depends upon the student. If you want to come, please do!

Q. What happens if some events/activities sell out or fill up before the registration deadline?
We try our best to provide an excellent weekend. While Parents Weekend provides a structured schedule, families tend to venture off to do other things regardless of their confirmed status. If you are interested in an event/workshop that has reached capacity, please drop-in on the day of the event about 20 - 30 minutes prior. Our first priority is to honor those who’ve registered, then, we can assess the availability of seats. A formal waitlist will not be kept, rather, we will lean unto your interest. We do recommend you take advantage of the Early Bird registration to avoid this issue.

ACCOMODATIONS

Q. Where should I stay?
We have reserved a limited number of rooms at a few area hotels. Rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and we DO anticipate shortages.  Hotel information is available on Parents Weekend page Morehouse College and the Parents Weekend Program is not responsible for reservations and cannot assist with any issues related to lack of room availability.

Q. We have a family member in a wheelchair. Can we get around to all of the events?
All events are held in handicapped-accessible areas and buildings. However, it is important to remember that, as with most college campuses, there can be some distance between buildings and events. If you have questions about accessibility, please emails us mhparentsweekd@morehouse.edu, and we will be happy to assist you.

STUDENT-RELATED

Q. Will my student have classes on the Friday of Parents Weekend?
Yes. The College does not cancel classes during Parents Weekend. If your student normally has classes on Friday, then your student will have classes on the Friday of Parents Weekend. We still encourage you to arrive in town on late Thursday evening or early Friday morning. There are many activities and events you may want to participate in without your student.

Q. May I attend class with my student?
Unfortunately, no. If you are interested in meeting with your student’s academic adviser, your student should contact the professor two weeks prior to Parents Weekend to schedule an appointment while you are here.

Q. Is it appropriate to bring my student's sibling(s) to Parents Weekend?
Siblings are welcome to campus, but keep in mind most events and activities are intended for adults and college-aged students. As a result, teenage siblings may also enjoy some of the events, but younger siblings may not. However, Atlanta is a family-friendly town and there may be many events and activities of interest to younger children that are not affiliated with the Parents Weekend program. The Welcome to Atlanta site has information for visitors of all ages.

Q. What if I want to take my student off campus for dinner?
We encourage you to do so (and we're pretty sure your son will enjoy the treat!). Information about restaurants in and around Atlanta will be available in your registration materials. You might also consider websites such as Open Table, Yelp, or Atlanta Eats for additional ideas.  (NOTE: No refunds or discounts are offered if you do not participate in any of the mealtimes included).

OTHER QUESTIONS

Q. What is the refund policy?
Due to the nature of event planning and coordination, and to ensure the quality of programming, Morehouse College and the Parents Weekend Committee will not offer any refunds, in full or in part, to any participant. In addition, there is no refund if you do not attend an event or activity that is included in the registration fee. We recommend you carefully review the weekend schedule and pricing to inform your decision before making your reservation. Also speak with you student regarding their academic schedule and social commitments prior to registering as ticket purchases, once again, are non-refundable.

If you need to cancel, please contact us at mhparentsweekd@morehouse.edu. Your registration fee will become a donation that supports parents in financial need who want to, but cannot afford to attend. We will be happy to supply you with a donation/tax deductible form.

Q. What if there is inclement weather?
In the event of inclement weather, we will thoroughly monitor it and make the necessary changes to ensure all events are inside and everyone remains safe.  Changes to schedule will be updated on the College website.

Q. What is the dress code?
The weekend is casual and relaxed with comfortable clothing. Atlanta weather varies during this time of year, so we suggest you bring a jacket and rain gear, just in case.  We do recommend wearing comfortable shoes as you peruse our campus.

Q. Can you smoke on campus grounds?
Morehouse College is a tabacco-free campus. The use of all tobacco products is prohibited on all property that is owned, operated, leased, occupied, or controlled by the College.

Q.  Are pets allowed on campus?
Pets are not allowed on campus at anytime.

Q. Do I have to stay for the whole weekend? What if I can only come for Saturday?
How long you stay is up to you. There are a number of events planned for Saturday and the weekend culminates with the Worship Service on Sunday morning, so you will still have the opportunity to take part in plenty of activities.

Q. Can I post photos to social media platforms while attending Parents Weekend?
Yes! Post photos of your time on campus. There are many places that serve as great photo ops – Make sure you participate in the "OH SNAP" Selfie Contest in & around campus (details in your welcome packet). Use #MHParentsRock’18 and upload on your Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Using the hashtag will help us find your photos to compile an online album. Don't forget to follow us!
