Ensuring Institutional Effectiveness

 

Morehouse College is committed to ongoing, integrated, and college-wide research-based planning and evaluation processes that result in continuous improvement in institutional quality and demonstrate the effective accomplishment of its mission to "develop men with disciplined minds to lead lives of leadership and service by emphasizing the intellectual and character development of its students and by assuming a special responsibility for teaching the history and culture of black people."  In order to ensure institutional effectiveness (IE), Morehouse engages in the following college-wide processes: 

  • Strategic planning
  • Budget review and resource allocation
  • Annual assessment planning and reporting
  • Periodic academic program review

The Department of Institutional Research and Effectiveness in collaboration with the Morehouse College Institutional Effectiveness Council provides guidance and support for academic programs as well as administrative and educational support (AES) units engaged in the annual assessment reporting process. 

Annual Outcomes Assessment (Unit-level Institutional Effectiveness Annual Reporting)

Annual planning and assessment is the cornerstone of the College's systematic process of ensuring effectiveness and fostering continuous, incremental improvement in all areas of the College.  Academic and AES units identify expected outcomes, assess the extent to which they achieve those outcomes, and provide evidence of improvement based on analysis of the results.  To facilitate this process, programs and units should use the resources provided below.
