Compton Mentor Fellowships


Suggested Schedule for Preparing a Fellowship Application

There are only two absolute deadlines, the first is Monday, January 3, 2011.

October 15, 2010: Prepare proposal outline

November 1, 2010: Describe specific goals and methods

December 1, 2010: Identify mentor and communicate with that mentor

December 5, 2010: Prepare budget with total $26,000 - $30,000 and budget justification

Monday, January 3, 2011: Submit full proposal to L. Blumer, Department of Biology.

All applicants will be interviewed by the Morehouse College selection committee during the week of January 10, 2011.

The committee will select as many as two nominees to continue preparation for submission to the Compton Mentor Fellowship program.


Nominees must submit their final version of application materials to L. Blumer by Tuesday, February 8, 2011.

Nominated applications are submitted by the Morehouse College CMF Committee directly to the Compton Mentor Fellows Program and must be received by the program on February 11, 2011.

The Morehouse College nominees will be interviewed with nominees from six other invited colleges in San Francisco March 18-20. 

Nominees will fly to San Francisco on Friday, 18 March and return on Sunday, 20 March (travel arranged by the Compton Mentor Fellowship Program manager).
