For the first time in the College’s
history, the Commencement ceremony will be available for live viewing
via the Internet.
At 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 18, viewers
watch a live webcast of the historic 124th Commencement
ceremony, in real time, as President Robert M. Franklin Jr. ’75
presides over his first spring commencement. Approximately 520 men
will become Morehouse men, including the College’s valedictorian,
Joshua Packwood, and salutatorian, Shannon Joyner.
This webcast is
made possible through a partnership with Florida A&M University. FAMU extends its FamCast streaming media infrastructure to Morehouse as
the institutions launch a high tech collaboration.

The newly established HBCU consortium was designed to promote technology
collaboration among HBCU's nationwide. Florida A&M University, a charter
member of the Internet2 consortium, will assist its sister HBCU's in
gaining access to advanced technology resources including Multimedia
Streaming Services , Internet2 and the National Lambda Rail. In addition,
FAMU will provide the opportunity for HBCUs to join forces in the
development of Disaster Recovery Plans, Technology Research, Application
Hosting and High Performance Computing. Florida A&M University, a leader
in technology, is committed to collaborating with sister institutions to
share advanced technology resources in an effort to enhance information
technology capabilities in the HBCU community.
