2017 Parents Weekend

February 17 to February 19

It is with great pleasure and anticipation that we welcome you to Morehouse College Parents Weekend 2017. We are particularly pleased to welcome you to campus during our 150th Founder's Day Celebration. The Division of Student Development has worked diligently to offer you some exciting and informative parent/student focused activities, as well as opportunities to participate in several Founder's Day events.

Of special note this year is the Morehouse College Parent Council (MCPC) is sponsoring the "Party with a Purpose" event on Friday night at the Loft at Castleberry Hill, just two short blocks from campus on Northside Drive. The entire campus is looking forward to a good after-party immediately following the Founder's Day concert featuring MAZE featuring Frankie Beverly, Friday at 8pm in the Martin Luther King Chapel.

In addition to the diverse events that are happening, we have added two exciting parent/student workshops for your enjoyment. Friday, we will be hosting "Breaking Down the Barriers", a workshop designed to assist parents and students on how to achieve academically as a 1st generation student.

The second workshop, which is a little more fun in nature, is "The Ties That Bind"; by Jay Austin of Jay Austin Collection Bowties, who not only teaches our young men how to tie a bow-tie, but guides them on a journey of understanding how their appearance equates to academic success.  This is a great bonding experience for fathers and sons, although all are welcome.  In addition, several Morehouse faculty, staff, and alumni will be on hand to fill in for those fathers that will not be in attendance, but whose sons want to come.

At Morehouse, we have a diverse group of talented, intelligent, and high-achieving young men.  We are committed to providing the very best collegiate experience so that each student may define himself, and one day redefine the world.

Individually and collectively, each of you is to be commended for your commitment, dedication, and support in making it possible for your son to attend Morehouse.  We sincerely thank you for the extraordinary investment and sacrifices you have made for your son, and in Morehouse.

Throughout the weekend, we encourage you to participate in as many events as possible and to meet faculty and staff and other parents to discuss the most effective ways of supporting and improving your son's Morehouse experience.

On behalf of the College and the Division of Student Development, once again we say THANK YOU!
