Jeffrey Cargile, a 5'-9" 190-pound defensive linebacker who was the Maroon Tigers' top tackler and the fourth best tackler in the SIAC, is gaining ground. A past SIAC Defensive Player of the Week and D2football.com National Defensive Player of the Week, Cargile is redefining what it means to be an athlete. He is a renaissance man at Morehouse.
Define Yourself.
“I am a football player—always have been and always will be. But, equally important, I am a scholar, thespian, a well-rounded person in general. Growing up in Cincinnati, I did not see a plethora of black role models. After a friend told me how much Morehouse helped him mature and grow as a man, I knew the place I needed to be: definitely Morehouse. I told my parents that I was going to Morehouse on Friday and school started on Wednesday. I have a sense of spontaneity.”
Redefine the World.
“As an athlete, I am breaking the mold. I have learned to set my mind on a goal, be diligent about my academics and make a difference in life. Morehouse instills a sense of pride––pride to make a difference. One day, the game is going to end and I’ll have to hang up my cleats. But I’ll have my Morehouse degree and pride to make a difference.”
