Define Yourself.

When people hear that you’re a student at the college, they attribute certain skills to you, but more importantly, you hear something in their voice that says they expect you to use those skills and abilities to make the world a better place. They expect you to be socially conscious and politically aware. I appreciate the responsibility that comes with being a student here, because it gives Morehouse Men a focus that students at other schools may not receive.

Redefine the World.

Morehouse’s legacy as the alma mater of noble men such as Martin Luther King, Maynard Jackson and Howard Thurmond comes with its benefits. The commitment that this school has shown toward community permeates every facet of your education. I plan to attend law school, focusing on non-profit law and academia. I’ve always known that I wanted to be a lawyer, but my focus on using law to teach and help those in need stems from my experiences at Morehouse.

Through Project Identity, I teach a class on public speaking to middle school students. At the cornerstone of public speaking is confidence. All of these students are African American males coming to Morehouse, a school full of confident African American men. I can’t help but think that given the right tools, resources and role models, these students will be future men of Morehouse, confidently taking on everything the world has to offer.
