NEWS ALERT

ATLANTA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CANCELS “A KING CELEBRATION” CONCERT SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, JANUARY 13, 2011 DUE TO ICY TRAVEL CONDITIONS IN ATLANTA

Due to icy travel conditions in Atlanta, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and its partners — the King Center, and Morehouse and Spelman Colleges — have decided to cancel this year’s annual musical tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “A King Celebration,” on Thursday, January 13, 2011, at 8:00 p.m. The concert has been an annual commemoration to the life and work of the celebrated civil rights leader for the past 18 years.

“This annual ‘A King Celebration’ concert is a tradition in Atlanta, and we are deeply saddened to cancel this musical tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,” said Atlanta Symphony Orchestra President Stanley E. Romanstein, Ph.D. “The icy conditions in metro-Atlanta are unfortunate, but we and our partners agree the well-being of our concertgoers is of the utmost importance to us. We look forward to seeing Atlantans, during safer travel conditions, at Atlanta Symphony Hall soon.

Beginning Tuesday, January 18, 2011, refunds will be available to ticket buyers by visiting the Woodruff Arts Center Box Office located at 15th and Peachtree Streets, or by calling 404.733.5000.
