Morehouse College Names World Renowned Historian to Head the Martin Luther King Jr. Collection

What: Morehouse College to announce Distinguished Professor and Executive Director of the Morehouse College Martin Luther King Jr. Collection

(on the campus of Morehouse College)

Historian Clayborne Carson will talk about the importance of the Morehouse College Martin Luther King Jr. Collection and his plans for the Collection going forward, including the development of programs for scholarly access and public education.

Also, for the first time, Morehouse College and the Robert W. Woodruff Library will demonstrate, live via satellite, the process of accessing the Collection. To date, more than 75-percent of the Collection has been digitized and is available for scholarly access.

The state-of-the-art demonstration will highlight the world-class finding aid that will give both the serious researcher and casual scholar the ability to view descriptions and images of every manuscript item in the Morehouse King Collection from anywhere in the world.

Woodruff Library archival staff created the Morehouse College Martin Luther King Jr. Collection Finding Aid and Digital Collection using the Archivists' Toolkit and OCLC CONTENTdm© software. These tools allow for the integration of content, images and archival processing techniques.
