President Franklin to Participate in Two Panel Discussions During the Essence Music Festival

(June 16, 2010) -- For the second consecutive year, President Robert M. Franklin '75 will be a panelist during the Essence African American Education Summit at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans.

Franklin will be part of two discussions on July 3: "College Roundtable - Preparing to Apply, Getting In and Finding Money" and "Saving Our Black Boys: What Every Parent Must Know."

During the first discussion, he will appear with radio personality Tom Joyner, UNCF President and CEO Michael Lomax '68, and Bennett College President Julianne Malveaux.

In the later session, Franklin will join with scholar Jawanza Kunjufu; Gen. William "Kip" Ward, who heads the United States Africa Command; author and celebrity chef Jeff Henderson; and Penny Brown, host of television's "Family Court with Judge Penny."
