Under the auspices of the UNCF Technology Enhancement Initiative, Intel is spearheading an effort to enhance and upgrade Morehouse College’s wireless infrastructure.
In April, representatives from Intel Corporation, the world’s largest computer chip maker and a manufacturer of computer, networking and communications products, announced a $100,000 donation of technology infrastructure by Intel to enhance the wireless access capabilities on the Morehouse campus.
Matt Laney, director of Network Services and Technical Support, and Greg Barnwarth, Windows and Unix Systems administrator, worked with Nicole Mattox, Intel special project manager, to develop the College’s 27 hotspots in eight campus locations. Intel provided the equipment and installation services.
The new locations are in Tech Tower, Douglass Hall, the Mays Hall study lounge, Perdue and Chivers common areas and study halls, Kilgore and Archer study rooms and each of the eight older residential facilities.
Intel also donated five laptop computers to Morehouse—three to graduating seniors with plans to attend graduate school and two to the Learning Resource Center for use as loaners for students.
