  New Vice President for Student Services Announced

President Walter E. Massey ’58 is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kevin D. Rome Sr. ’89, as vice president for Student Services. Rome, who is currently the vice president for Campus Life at Clayton College & State University, will assume this position on July 1, 2005.

A native of Columbus, Ga., Rome earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Morehouse College and an M.Ed. in college student personnel (emphasis in counseling) from the University of Georgia. He then went on to earn the Ph.D. in higher education administration with a minor in social work from the University of Texas at Austin.

Prior to joining Clayton State in May 2004, Rome served as the assistant vice chancellor for Student Life and Diversity at Indiana University Perdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). He served the University of Texas in two positions: as assistant dean of students for New Student Services from August 1996 to August 1999, and as assistant dean of students for Campus and Community Involvement from August 1999 to July 2001. He also spent five years in the Office of Residential Life at California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo and spent two years at the University of Georgia in the Office of Housing and Residential Life, the Office of Greek Life and the Office of Financial Aid.

He is a member of numerous professional associations, including the Association of College Personnel Administrators, the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated and Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society. He is married to Stefanie and the father of Kevin Jr. and Kendel.
