Morehouse College provides training in the fields of biostatistics and epidemiology for students across the Atlanta University Center, which is the largest consortium of Black Colleges in the nation. This program expands and institutionalizes these efforts and facilitates the development of the next generation of leaders in the field of health disparities research and will increase the number of Morehouse College students interested in health disparities research who continue onto graduate research study.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
- Build and expand academic degree programs with an emphasis on health disparities
- Expanding public health mnor course offerings in health disparities
- Utilize instructional technologies that will enhance students' content knowledge, process knowledge and decrease the digital divide
- Enhance content knowledge of students related to health disparities elimination
- Increase participation of minority students in scientific research opportunities that focus on health disparities;
- Develop a cohort of undergraduate students interested in health disparities research
- Enhance research programs and research related skills with an emphasis on health disparities, life sciences, behavioral sciences, and health related areas including sociology
- Promote educational experiences and opportunities that encourage students to conduct research in health disparities, life sciences, behavioral sciences, and health related areas
