Conference Itinerary

The 18th Annual Public Health Awareness Conference at Morehouse College is a two day series of lectures, workshops, seminars and other activities.  International, national and local public health experts will be visiting the Atlanta University Center campuses to discuss public health, participate in a graduate/professional school fair which exposes students to the many opportunities in the Health Professions.

Currently programs of the Public Health Sciences Institute are supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Public Health Services, in Atlanta, Georgia. The cooperative agreement was promulgated to address the need to increase the knowledge and skills of minority students as epidemiologist, bio-statisticians and occupational safety & health.

This Public Health Conference provides opportunities for:

  • Students to share their research project data and demonstrate scientific knowledge. 
  • Students and faculty advisers to learn about new and innovative scientific research and to meet other individuals who serve as role models and mentors.
  • Students to learn about graduate programs and research fellowships in the Health Professions.

The Public Health Conference attracts students and faculty from:

  • Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
  • Other minority serving institutions, both community colleges and undergraduate institutions.
  • Other institutions.

The conference fee includes all conference materials, all planned meals and reception and access to all sessions.

Exhibits: Exhibitor’s space includes the following:  

  • One conference fee includes all conference materials, all planned meals and reception, and access to all sessions.
  • One 6x3 foot table and two chairs. 
  • Identification sign in exhibit space.
  • Program listing in the Program Guide.
  • General security service.

Poster Presentations: Abstracts can be submitted and will be reviewed for acceptance to the conference as a poster. The majority of accepted abstracts will be presented during three poster sessions scheduled throughout the conference. Two poster sessions will be located in the same hall as the exhibits during exhibit hours.  The poster presentation is open to all undergraduate students in any academic major is welcome to submit abstracts. All undergraduate student presentations will be judged during the conference and the students with the three highest scores will be given awards during the final presentation event.
