The Public Influences of African-American
Churches Project is designed to facilitate research and dialogue about
the impact of African-American churches on public policy and public
discourse. Our mission is to provide scholars and teachers with research
they can use as a basis for publications and teachings related to the
church's evolving role in American society. In addition, community activists,
church leaders, and public officials may use this information in their
deliberations about public policy formation and the development of public
and private programs aimed at community improvements.
We are sharing our research findings through
our newsletters, conferences, and publications, and we invite you to
pass along information to us about important church-related involvements
in public affairs.
