Student Health Services
Services
Morehouse College Student Health Services is open 7 days a week, 24- hours a day for all students on or off campus. We treat only minor illnesses and injuries, referring any chronic or more serious conditions to other appropriate health facilities and providers. On occasion, the doctor will perform very minor procedures at their discretion and also give and remove stitches.
We do provide confinement to our facility for observation of illnesses that could warrant referrals to other health care facilities and for juvenile diseases such as chicken pox, etc. We provide the students with crutches, ace wrap bandages, slings and other medical supplies for injuries.
Students are not required to pay for diagnosis, treatment and medications dispensed from the drug formulary. We do not provide continuous refills of medications for any chronic medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, hypertension, etc. These medications are the responsibility of the students; also they are not charged for confinement to the inpatient facility in the Student Health Center.
We also provide the students with a portable x-ray service in the Student Health Center. For the athletics, our orthopedic surgeons come to the stadium once a week as well as the physical therapist when needed.
Doctors provide 24-hour coverage, 7 days a week. They serve as consultants at any time for our registered nurses who are able to page them if they have questions or concerns about a students’ medical condition. They also maintain daily “sick-call” each a.m. Monday through Friday.
Although the school provides an insurance plan for all full-time students, they will need personal insurance as well to compensate for areas not covered in the schools plan. A small fee is deducted from their tuition which covers them for the insurance and to have access to the pharmaceutical and medical supplies in the Student Health Services Department. For more detailed information please see our insurance brochures.
