On-campus Housing
All freshmen are required to live in campus housing unless they receive written permission from the Dean of Student Services to live off-campus. All students who live off-campus during an enrolled term must file a local address and telephone number with the College by registering with the Office of Off-Campus Student Services, and notify the Office of the Registrar immediately with change of address and/or telephone number.
Housing Assignments
Residential Housing Lottery
Due to limited number of housing units available for
returning students who wish to live on-campus, the Office of Housing
and Residential Life implements a housing lottery each spring semester.
The lottery is designed to provide returning students equitable system
for on-campus housing assignments.
New Students
All students accepted to the College will receive a housing application with their acceptance package from the Office of Admissions. Students are responsible for adhering to the application and financial deadlines outlined by the Office of Admissions. Residence hall and roommate requests are honored as space permits. Assignments for the fall semester are mailed to new students' home during the third week of July.
Returning Students
During March, all residential students will receive
a housing application form their Resident Directors for the next academic
year. On the first business day of April, a housing deposit is due
for returning students in order to be eligible for the spring housing
lottery. Students who want to be considered for campus housing must
complete the application and return it to the Housing Office along
with verification of the housing deposit payment. Students who do not
complete a housing deposit will not be considered for campus housing.
Off-campus students who want to request on-campus housing for the next
academic year must come by the Office of Housing and Residential Life
to complete a housing lottery application. No student can be considered
for campus housing without completing a housing lottery application and
payment of the housing deposit.
As space permits, room and roommate preference will
be granted to students who are selected as lottery recipients and make
the minimum initial payment for the fall semester. The amount of this
payment is determined by the Office Business and
Financial Affairs
For complete lottery guidelines, please contact the
Office of Housing and Residential Life, or see the Housing Lottery
Link on the Morehouse College Website.
Housing assignments for returning students will be
mailed to students' homes around the last week of July.
Students assigned to a residence hall room for the fall semester are also obligated for that room for the spring semester. Students will be released from this obligation only if they are not enrolled at Morehouse for the spring semester. Any additional exception must be granted in writing by the Director of Housing and Residential Life prior to the end of the fall semester.
Students with concerns about room assignments should contact the Office
of Housing and Residential Life. Students wit roommate problems should
contact their respective
Resident Director or lead Resident Assistant.
All students are governed by the rules and regulations contained in the Student Contract Agreement and the Student Handbook, as well as by to the rules and regulations that may from time to time be adopted by the College or the Office of Housing and Residential Life.
