June 24-2007 – INDIANAPOLIS – Three Maroon Tigers who qualified for the USA National Track and Field Championships had disappointing results in the meet against the top amateur and professional athletes in the nation.
Keith Moffatt, who had the best outing of the Morehouse contingent, finished fifth in the high jump with a leap of 7’-4 ¼.” The senior from Newport News, Va. tied with three other jumpers for the second best height, but Moffatt was awarded fifth place based on more misses at lower heights.
Damian Prince failed to make it to the finals in the 400-meter hurdles. The junior from Decatur, Ga. hit and fell over the last hurdle in his preliminary heat and missed the final cut.
Randall Flimmons did not compete in the long jump event. The senior from Columbus, MS entered the event as a “provisional” qualifier and was not allowed to jump because others ahead of him had automatic bids or better provisional qualifying distances.
The top three finishers in each event won the right to represent the United States at the World Track and Field Championships in Osaka, Japan, in August.
