May 23, 2007 – Charlotte, NC – Senior Randall Flimmons leaped his way to a national championship on day one of the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships.
The senior drama major from Columbus, MS soared 25’- 10 ¾” to claim his first outdoor long jump title. He won the NCAA Division II indoor title in March.
Flimmons’ leap was nearly two feet further than his nearest competitor.
Sophomore Evan Flax took fifth place in the long jump, leaping 23’-7 ½” to score three points for the Flying Maroon Tigers.
With the 10 points earned by Flimmons, Morehouse was in first place after day one.
Because of their point-scoring performances, Flax and Flimmons will be named to the All-America team.
