May 21, 2007 -- METAIRIE, LA -- Randall Flimmons (Field) and Damian Prince (Track) have been named the South Region 2007Athletes of the Year by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

A senior from Columbus, MS, Flimmons is one of Morehouse’s most versatile student-athletes and had a superb outdoor track and field season. In addition to winning the long jump and javelin at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships, Flimmons qualified for the upcoming NCAA Division II Championships in the long jump 24’-11” and triple jump 50’-1¾.”

In March, Flimmons followed up his national indoor long jump championship with a spectacular performance at the Auburn University Spring Invitational track and field meet, in which he set two Facility Records in the long jump and the triple jump. He also earned SIAC All-Academic honors.

The USTFCCCA voted Damian Prince the 2007 Track Athlete of the Year, based on his outstanding season.
