June 25, 2006 – INDIANAPOLIS – Junior, jumping sensation Keith Moffatt achieved a career-best height of 7’- 6 ½” to finish second at the 2006 AT&T Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Michael A. Carroll stadium this past weekend.
Moffatt, a physical education major from Newport News, Va., is the three-time SIAC high jump champion and record holder and the NCAA Division II champion. He came just short of taking the title and being named to the 2006 IAAF World Cup team. Instead he was beaten out by Tora Harris, the 2002 NCAA champion, who jumped a world-leading and personal-best height of 7’- 7 ¾” to win the title in his first outdoor meet of the year.
Moffatt’s next competition will be July 7-9, when he will compete as a member of the USA Track and Field team in the North American-Central American-Caribbean Under-23 Championships, to be held in The Dominican Republic. That event is the latest international competition for Moffatt who competed on the European circuit with the U.S. National Team last summer.
