MOFFATT LEAPS AHEAD

June 16, 2006 – ATLANTA – Leaping higher and stronger at every event, Morehouse high jumper Keith Moffatt will demonstrate his high-flying talents on national and international stages, beginning next weekend, with competitions in Indianapolis, followed by the Dominican Republic two weeks later.

In Indianapolis, Moffatt will compete against some of the best jumpers in the country at the 2006 AT&T USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, June 21-25. The championship is the final stop of USATF's 2006 Visa Championships Series and is the selections meet for the IAAF World Cup of Athletics, which will take place later that summer.

The junior from Newport News, Va. won the NCAA Division II high jump title in May with a recording-breaking leap of 7’-6.” He is the three-time SIAC high jump champion who has won every outdoor event this season and has finished first or second in every collegiate competition.

The 2006 AT&T USA Outdoor Championships will be televised live on ESPN2 from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, and from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, June 25.

From July 7-9, Moffat will compete as a member of the USA Track and Field team in the North American-Central American-Caribbean Under-23 Championships.

The Dominican Republic event is but the latest international competition for Moffatt, a junior physical education major. Last summer, he competed on the European circuit with the U.S. National Team.
