
April 13, 2005 ALBANY, GA Numerous Maroon Tigers were celebrated for their athletic and academic accomplishments in the 2004-2005 season, at the annual Spring Sports Championships banquet hosted by the SIAC.
As they do every year, the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors the best and the brightest baseball, tennis and track and field athletes with dinner and an awards ceremony preceding the conference tournament of each sport.
Based on voting by coaches, SIAC officials announced the names of the All-Conference teams, as well as Athlete of the Year and Coach of the Year for the spring sports.
As they do almost every year, the Maroon Tigers were well-represented among the award recipients.
Baseball:
Four Morehouse players were named to the All-Conference team and head coach Andre Pattillo was named the 2005 SIAC Coach of the Year.
Freshman second baseman Gregory Davis, senior outfielder Marquis Bartlett and freshman outfielder Dunte Artis were named to the All-SIAC first team. Junior outfielder Gary Copeland was named to the second team.
With a 3.73 GPA in Business Administration, Copeland was voted to the SIAC Baseball All-Academic Team.
Tennis:
Two Morehouse players were voted to the All-Conference team and Morehouse junior Christopher Neal was named the 2005 SIAC Newcomer of the Year.
Junior RaFeael Smith was named to the All-SIAC first team and junior Stan Goss was named to the second team.
With a 3.57 GPA in Business Administration, Smith was named to the SIAC Tennis All-Academic Team.
Track and Field:
It was in Track and Field that the Maroon Tigers most dominated the All-Conference Team honors. Of the 18 athletes named to the All-SIAC track and field team, 10 were Maroon Tigers.
The icing on the All-Conference team cake was that Morehouse high jumper Keith Moffatt was named the 2005 SIAC field Athlete of the Year. The high-flying sophomore leaper won every event he entered this season and won the indoor NCAA Division II national high jump championship.
Morehouse triple jumper Cameron Dayne was also recognized for his accomplishments. The versatile junior won the NCAA Division II national triple jump championship in March.

Six Maroon Tigers were named to the 14-member SIAC All-Academic Track and Field Team. With an average GPA of 3.40, Morehouse also won the All-Academic Mens Team Award.
