December 04, 2009 – ATLANTA – Two Morehouse senior football players have been chosen to play in the inaugural Russell Athletic HBCU Bowl, a black college all-star game, which will be played December 19, in Montgomery, AL.
Offensive lineman Ramon Harewood and wide receiver Achille Hendje will represent Morehouse in the nation's only post-season football game that showcases top Division-IAA and Division-II HBCU football talent. Teams will represent the East and West, coached by Joseph Taylor of Florida A&M University and Reggie Barlow of Alabama State University.
Harewood, a 6’-6” 310-pound senior from St. Michael, Barbados, is a two-time All-SIAC lineman. He anchored a Morehouse offensive line that finished in the top five of nearly every SIAC statistical category in 2009. Because of his ample size and talents, Harewood has attracted considerable attention from NFL scouts.
Hendje finished the season as Morehouse’s best receiver and the SIAC’s second best receiver, by receiving yardage and receptions per game. The 6’-1” senior from Silver Spring, MD, was Morehouse’s third leading scorer in 2009.
Both Morehouse players are certain to impress the numerous scouts, representing the NFL, CFL, UFL and AFL.
