October 10, 2009 – COLUMBUS, GA – A sluggish offense and costly turnovers led to a 30-16 Morehouse loss to Tuskegee in the 74th Annual Classic in Columbus.
After staking Tuskegee to an early 14-0 lead, Morehouse roared back with 10 points of their own, on a William Brack to Jake Thompson 28-yard touchdown pass and an Ian Mullen 42-yard field goal.
Neither team scored in the third quarter. Tuskegee struck first in the fourth with a seven-yard touchdown run.
Morehouse responded with a seven-play, 53-yard drive that was capped off by a four-yard touchdown run by Brack. On the two-point conversion attempt, a Brack pass was intercepted for the second time by Justin Hannah who returned it 98 yards for a two-point score.
A Tuskegee touchdown with 2:55 remaining set the final score.
Morehouse dropped to 4-2 (3-2 SIAC) and will face Lane on Saturday in Jackson, TN. Tuskegee improved to 5-2 (5-1 SIAC) and has a bye on Saturday.
