September 21, 2009 – ATLANTA – Following the 38-0 win over Lincoln, two Tigers were named to the SIAC Player of the Week honor roll and two others received honorable mention.
Morehouse placekicker Ian Mullen is rapidly making a name for himself in the SIAC.
In week one, the junior transfer from Long Beach, CA receive an honorable mention nod, but in each of the last two weeks Mullen rose to the top, earning Special Teams Player of the week honors.
Against the Blue Tigers, Mullen kicked a 26-yard field goal and punted four times for a 42-yard average, the best in the conference this week. More impressively, though, Mullen hit 5-of-5 points-after-touchdowns, to extend his perfect season total to 13-of-13.
In coming weeks, opposing quarterbacks and running backs will be looking to avoid Charlie Wilson, who was named the Co-Defensive Player of the Week. After honorable mention selections in two of the first three games, Wilson moved up a notch and shared the defensive POW award in week four. The six-foot, 190-pound linebacker from Montgomery, AL, made 11 tackles against the Blue Tigers, including a sack and another tackle for lost yardage. Wilson shares the team lead in tackles (28) with teammate DaJuan Holmes and has returned two interceptions for touchdowns.
William Brack, who completed 17-of-25 passes for 191 yards and a TD, and rushed for 2 touchdowns, was named to the Honorable Mention roll in week four. Brack directed an offense that averaged 5.8 yards-per-play.
Nate Nobles garnered honorable mention for his play on the Morehouse offensive line. The 2007 All-SIAC honoree anchored a Morehouse line that amassed 360 yards of total offense, scored on 5-of-5 chances in the Red Zone and converted 8-of-12 third-down chances, while giving up only one sack.
Morehouse has a bye in Week Five and returns to action, October 3, at 7:30 p.m., against Stillman, at B.T. Harvey Stadium.
