Last year’s success has extended to the upcoming football season, as eight Maroon Tigers were named to the SIAC Preseason All-Conference Team and Morehouse was projected to finish third in the conference in 2009.

The results of balloting by SIAC football coaches, who picked Albany State and Tuskegee ahead of Morehouse, were announced at Friday’s conference kickoff luncheon. Morehouse finished second in the SIAC last season, with a 6-3 conference record and a 6-4 overall record.

Quarterback William Brack, offensive linemen Ramon Harewood and Joseph Williams, wide receiver Achille Hendje, kick returner Jamar Rodriguez and defensive lineman DeJuan Holmes were selected to the First Team and defensive back Justin Murray and defensive lineman Derrin Nettles was voted to the Second Team.
