November 10, 2008 – ATLANTA – Quarterback William Brack and wide receiver Jamar Rodriguez were named, again, to the SIAC Weekly honor roll.
Brack was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week, for his masterful performance, in the 58-55 win over Kentucky State. He completed 22-of-42 passes for 336 yards and three touchdowns. The Memphis junior who transferred from Jackson State, also rushed for three touchdowns, including the game-winning score in overtime.
In only his third start of the season, Brack has been the offensive POW twice and received Honorable Mention once. He shared this week’s honors with Tuskegee quarterback Jacary Atkinson, who threw for five touchdowns and rushed for another.
Rodriguez was tabbed as the Special Teams Player of the Week, for an outstanding all-around game against KSU. The red-shirt freshman from Houston accounted for 227 all-purpose yards, on seven kickoff returns for 209 yards, one punt return for eight yards and three pass receptions for 10 yards.
This is the fourth time on the SIAC weekly honor roll for Rodriguez, who leads the conference in All-Purpose yards per game, with a 131.8-yard average. He also leads the conference in Kick Return Average, with 27.8 yards per game.
Linebacker Jeffrey Cargile and offensive lineman Ramon Harewood were singled out for their standout performances in the overtime victory.
Cargile tied a Morehouse season-high of 17 tackles in the longest game of the season. He matches the 17 tackles made by Earl “The Tiger” Thomas in the Homecoming win against Albany State. Cargile had 2.5 tackles for loss and shared a sacked with defensive lineman DaJuan Holmes.
Harewood was cited for his role on the Morehouse offensive line that accounted for 486 yards. The offense scored on 8-of-8 chances in the red zone and converted 2-of-3 fourth-down chances. This is Harewood’s second listing among the SIAC weekly elite.
