POW HONOR ROLL MOSTLY MAROON AND WHITE

October 27, 2008 – ATLANTA – Maroon Tigers snagged three of the five SIAC Player of the Week honors, as a result of standout performances in the Homecoming upset of Albany State.

Quarterback William Brack was named Offensive Player of the Week. In his first start as a Maroon Tiger, the red-shirt sophomore transfer from Jackson State threw two fourth-quarter touchdowns, to lead Morehouse to a come-from-behind victory over Albany State. Brack, who hails from Memphis, completed 17-of-32 passes for 273 yards and three touchdowns.

Linebacker Jeffrey Cargile was named Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season. The senior from Cincinnati had a monster day against a team he has never beaten. Cargile recorded a season-high 16 tackles, a sack, an interception and a forced fumble.

Place kicker and punter Micah Streiff was named Special Team Player of the Week for the sixth time this season – more than any player in the conference. Streiff, a senior from Decatur, GA, averaged 31.7 yards on seven punts with two touchbacks. He also kicked a 37-yard field goal and three extra points.

Linebacker Earl “The Tiger” Thomas was named to the POW Honorable Mention list. Morehouse’s second leading tackler, Thomas recorded a career-high 17 tackles against ASU – the team season high.

Offensive lineman Joseph Williams made the Honorable Mention list for the first time in his Morehouse career. The 6’-3” 280-lb senior from Savannah helped the Morehouse offense compile 296 yards and score on 2-of-2 chances in the red zone.
