September 29, 2008 – ATLANTA – Despite outstanding performances by a variety of players in Saturday’s Angel City Classic in Los Angeles, no Maroon Tiger was named SIAC Player of the Week this week.
However, wide receiver/kick returner Jamar Rodriguez and place kicker Micah Streiff were listed in the Honorable Mention category.
Rodiguez, who was Newcomer of the Week two weeks ago and received Honorable Mention last week, had another excellent game against Prairie View A&M. The 5’-8” speedster amassed 149 all-purpose yards, as a receiver, rusher and kick return specialist. He leads the SIAC in kick return average, with 31.5 yards per attempt and is second in all-purpose yardage, with 129.2 yards per game.
Streiff, who has been Special Teams Player of the Week three times already this season, was cited for Honorable Mention for his stats against Prairie View. The 5’-11” kicker from Decatur punted four times for a 41.2 –yard average and kicked two extra points and a 22-yard field goal.
Streiff leads the SIAC in Points-After-Touchdown kicking percentage. He is perfect in that category, with 11 points in 11 attempts. He also leads the conference in scoring by kick, with 29 points, and is tied for first in number of field goals made (6).
