
September 24, 2008 – LIBERTY, MO – Morehouse punter and placekicker Micah Streiff has been voted the D2Football.com national Special Teams Player of the Week.
The online football news service, which promotes NCAA Division II football, cited Streiff for his standout performance in the 27-7 Morehouse win over Miles College, Saturday.
In that game, Streiff punted five times for a 39-yard average, which consistently put the Golden Bears in bad field position. He also kicked a 41-yard field goal and added two extra points.
Streiff, a senior from Decatur, GA is a dual-degree computer science/mechanical engineering major, who transferred to Morehouse last year from Tennessee State University. Last season, Morehouse coaches voted Streiff the Special Teams Most Valuable Player.
Streiff leads the SIAC in scoring by kick (24 points), and Points-After-Touchdown (9-of-9) and is second in field goals with five.
Three other Maroon Tigers have been named to the D2Football.com honor roll since its inception in 1999 – running back John David Washington and defensive back Johnny Eubanks (2005) and linebacker Jeffrey Cargile (2007).
