September 22, 2008 – ATLANTA – Linebacker Jeffrey Cargile and placekicker Micah Streiff were named SIAC Players of the Week for their outstanding play in Saturday’s 27-7 win over Miles College.
Cargile was named Defensive Player of the Week. The senior finance major from Cincinnati made 10 tackles (7 solo, 3 assists) and had three quarterback sacks.
Streiff was the Special Teams Player of the Week. The senior from Decatur is a dual-degree computer science/mechanical engineering major. He punted five times for an average of 39 yards per kick. He also kicked a 41-yard field goal and two points-after-touchdowns.
Offensive lineman Ramon Harewood and wide receiver Jamar Rodriguez received Honorable Mention votes.
Harewood anchored an offensive line that racked up 289 yards of offense, scored on 3-of-3 chances in the red zone and allowed no sacks.
Rodriquez, last week’s SIAC Newcomer of the Week, chalked up 158 yards of total offense, with 7 rushes for 57 yds, two receptions for 34 yards and a 67-yard kickoff return.
