July 31, 2008 – ATLANTA – Apparently the prognosticators have learned their lesson about underestimating the Maroon Tigers and have predicted Morehouse to finish fourth in the 2008 race for the SIAC championship.
Last year, in a preseason poll, the SIAC football coaches picked Morehouse to finish tenth, in a ten-team race. Under first-year head coach Rich Freeman, the Maroon Tigers proved everyone wrong and roared to a fourth-place finish in the conference.
Tuskegee, which went undefeated and won the SIAC title, the Pioneer Bowl and the mythical HBCU National Championship, was projected to finish first again this season. Albany State and Fort Valley State will round out the top three, according to the coaches.
