November 29, 2007 -- ATLANTA -- Morehouse linebackers Jeffrey Cargile and Earl Thomas were named to the Daktronics All Southeast Region football team anounced today.
The voting by the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) recognizes the best football players in the NCAA's Division II Southeast Region.
Cargile and Thomas played key roles in turning around a Morehouse defense that went from worst in the SIAC last season to fourth this year.
Thomas, a 6'-3" 225-pound junior from Houston, was the soul of the Morehouse defense. By mid-season, he had been dubbed "The Tiger," for his ferocious tackling and vocal leadership. Twice this season, Thomas earned SIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. He was among the team's leading tacklers and in two consecutive games he returned fumbles for touchdowns.
