November 5, 2007 – ATLANTA – Once again, Maroon Tigers are heavily represented on the SIAC Player of the Week honor roll.
This week, four Maroon Tigers made the big list, for their efforts in the 24-7 win against Miles, on Saturday. Jeffrey Cargile was voted Defensive Player of the Week, Micah Streiff was Co-Special Teams Player of the Week, and Kelvin Moore and Gary Patten received Honorable Mention.
Cargile, a 5’-9” 190-lb junior from Cincinnati, recorded a career-high 13 tackles, including six for loss and a sack. He also intercepted a pass. The team leading tackler, Cargile was also named the D2Football.com national Defensive Player of the Week.
Streiff, a 5’-11” junior from Decatur, was named to the SIAC honor roll for the seventh time this season. He tied with Tuskegee quarterback Jacary Atkinson for the most by any player for that distinction. Against Miles, Streiff punted seven times for a 39.9-yard average and kicked a 42-yard field goal. He was 3-of-3 on points-after-touchdowns.
Moore, one of 15 Maroon Tigers honored on Senior Day at B.T. Harvey Stadium, had his best day ever as a Maroon Tiger. Named as an Honorable Mention Offensive Player of the Week, Moore, a 6’-2” 200-lb running back, rushed 22 times for 159 yards and caught two passes for 33 yards.
Gary Patten, also honored on Senior Day, was the Honorable Mention Offensive Lineman of the Week. Patten, 6’-4” 340-lb offensive lineman, graded out at 95 percent for his effort, in helping the Maroon Tigers gain 342 yards.
