SCOTT, STERLING, STEIFF PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

October 28, 2007 -- ATLANTA -- If this headline seems familiar, it’s no mistake. The Maroon Tigers have been named to the SIAC Player of the Week honor rolls in unprecedented numbers this season.

Kicker Micah Streiff was named Special Teams Player of the Week for the fourth time in 2007, to go with two Honorable Mentions. On Saturday against Albany State, Streiff, a junior from Decatur, GA punted five times for a 44.5 yard average, with two of those kicks inside the 20 yard line. He also kicked a 30-yard field goal and two extra points.

For his efforts Saturday, quarterback Christian Sterling earned Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, to go with two Honorable Mentions. Sterling completed 17-of-33 passes for 320 yards and four touchdowns.

Scott shares this week’s Defensive Player of the Week honors with Clark Atlanta’s Curtis Johnson. Scott received Honorable Mention for his play in week #2 against Fort Valley. The 6’-2” 190-pound defensive back from Bronwood, GA recorded 17 tackles against Albany State, including 2.5 for loss, and a sack.
