October 15, 2007 – ATLANTA – Robert Green was named Offensive Lineman of the Week for his outstanding performance in the 32-14 win over Savannah State, SIAC officials announced today.
The 5’’-10” 270-pound senior from Atlanta had one of his best games as a Maroon Tiger, since transferring to Morehouse from Hampton University two years ago.
On Saturday, Green anchored a Morehouse front line that accumulated 451 yards of total offense. The high-powered Morehouse offense also scored on 5-of-5 chances in the Red Zone and converted 5-of-8 chances on third down.
Three other Maroon Tigers received Honorable Mention kudos for their efforts in Saturday’s win.
Defensive lineman Mario Lane recorded nine tackles and led a Morehouse defense that held the visiting Tigers to 204 total yards of offense, the second fewest by an opponent this season. The 6’-6” 300-pound junior from Montgomery, AL is playing in his first season as a Maroon Tiger.
In only his second start of the season, quarterback Christian Sterling completed 18-of-25 passes for 216 yards. Sterling spread the ball around to 10 different receivers and orchestrated the best offensive effort by the Maroon Tigers this year.
Kicker Michah Streiff is no stranger to the SIAC weekly honor roll, having made the list twice before in his first season as a Maroon Tiger. The 5’-11” 175-pound junior from Decatur, GA kicked field goals of 20 and 35 yards and added two extra points.
