Defensive lineman Jamal James and kicker Micah Streiff were named Players of the Week by the SIAC for their performances in Saturday’s 13-12 win over Shaw University.
In addition, offensive lineman Ramon Harewood, wide receiver Achille Hendje, quarterback Christian Sterling received Honorable Mentions for their play, as well.
James, a 6’-2” 260-lb junior from Paramount, CA, was the SIAC Defensive Player of the Week. He recorded eight tackles (6 solo), with two tackles for loss and a quarterback sack. James led a Morehouse defense that kept the Shaw offense off balance all game.
Streiff was named the SIAC Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season. The 5’-11” 175-lb junior from Decatur, GA, kicked two field goals of 25 and 40 yards and the winning point-after-touchdown in the win over Shaw. Streiff also punted eight times for a 40.9-yard average, with two touchbacks.
Ramon Harewood, a sophomore from Barbados, anchored an offensive line that produced 267 total yards and scored on 2-of-3 red zone chances.
Achille Hendje, a junior from Silver Spring, MD, caught 4 passes for 53 yards in the fourth quarter, including the game-winning touchdown with just over a minute remaining.
Christian Sterling, a sophomore from Houston, came off the bench in the fourth quarter and completed 6-of-14 passes for 73 yards, including the game-winning touchdown.
