MOREHOUSE ENDS SEASON ON SOUR NOTE

November 5, 2006 – FAIRFIELD, AL – Morehouse lost to Miles 38-9, in a game televised nationally by ESPNU.

Miles scored early and often and held the Maroon Tigers to the second lowest score of the season. The Golden Bears out-gained Morehouse 445 yards to 306.

After falling behind 10-0, Muhammed Abdur-Rahman put Morehouse on the scoreboard with a 28-yard field goal early in the second quarter. But the Golden Bears answered with a touchdown and grabbed a 17-3 halftime lead.

The Golden Bears scored two more touchdowns to go up 31-3, before Morehouse answered with a 91-yard scoring drive.

A 42-yard TD pass, from Ruben DuPree to Jeremy Major, with 9:40 left in the game was the first Morehouse offensive touchdown in two games.

DuPree completed 17-of-20 passes for 233 yards. He finished the season with 2,214 yards and solidified his position as the Morehouse single-season passing yardage leader.

DuPree, under pressure the whole game, was sacked four times but threw no interceptions.

Jeremy Major led all Morehouse receivers with five catches and 115 yards. Ravenell DuPree grabbed four passes for 29 yards.

Miles running backs Jeremy Spears and Joseph Moncur combined for 301 rushing yards, nearly half the 639 the entire team has rushed for in eight games.

Derrick Scott led the Morehouse defense with 10 tackles. Scorpio Brown and Vincent Whaley collected nine each and Robert Harris had eight.

Morehouse ended the season on a six-game losing streak and finished with the worst record since going 0-11 in 1998. The last winning season was 6-5 in 2002.

The loss drops Morehouse to last place in the SIAC. Miles improved to 5-4 (4-3 SIAC) and will face Clark Atlanta at home on Saturday.
